An Oil and Gas Workers

Halliburton is an American multinational corporation. One of the world’s largest oil field service companies, it has operations in more than 70 countries. Halliburton announced on the 9th of November that it worked with the Akwa Ibom state government to inaugurate and open Nigeria’s first oil and gas training center fully-equipped with oilfield operations tools. This information was gathered by OE Staff.

The Akwa Ibom Oil and Gas Training and Research Center will provide courses in field development, drilling and completions engineering. Intervention solutions and digital technologies to local energy employees and students. Halliburton Landmark will provide the training curriculum, instructors, software, workstations and tools to be used in the classroom, while the Akwa Ibom state government will provide the facility infrastructure.

Present at the event was Henry Oki, (area vice president of Halliburton, Nigeria) and Professor Nse Essien (Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Science and Technology). During the event a press statement was released by Henry Oki.

Henry stated in his speech that Halliburton believes that Nigeria has great oil and gas potential, and the country will play a key role in the global energy industry within the next decade. He continued by saying that the organization is pleased to collaborate with the Akwa Ibom government to bring the first of its kind oil and gas training and research center to the Sub-Sahara Africa region. He also said that with this facility, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria’s largest crude oil producer, can provide a robust range of oil and gas development courses to local students and employees.

Professor Nse Essien also expressed his gratitude to Halliburton for its enormous help and support. He continued by saying that “this facility is a great addition to our region and will help boost our state’s revenue and tourism potentials because oil companies can now train their employees within Nigeria rather than sending them out of the country for the latest education in oil and gas development,”

The Akwa Ibom Oil and Gas Training and Research Center will support over 3000 students annually and will provide more than 50 courses in oil and gas development. Those interested in learning more about the center can contact the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Science and Technology or contact Tomide Togun with Halliburton Landmark.
